Llama: Alpaca Fiber Sculpture
What is a Llama felted sculpture?
Llama alpaca fiber Sculpture, Super cute llama is our brand new addition to our collection of South American camelids. Since they are pack animals, she is ready to pack up to a third of her weight and walk for 5-8 miles. She is made entirely by hand, and proudly stands 8 inches tall and about 4.5 inches from tail to snout. Each little face is sewn and created with love. She comes in rich natural colors that reflect a small portion of her vast color scheme in nature. Just like the live animals, these little ones do well in herds. She is finished with a loop for hanging or may stand and graze. Due to the hand crafting process, each piece is unique with slight variations.
What Is Alpaca Fiber?
The Incas considered Alpaca and Vicuna a gift from the gods and to this day it is the most important relic of the Incas history. Alpaca fiber is a type of wool that is derived from the fibers that naturally grow on alpacas. These animals are known as camelids since they are similar to camels, and alpacas are native to South America. There are two breeds of this four-legged animal: the Huacaya alpaca and the Suri alpaca. The types of wool derived from each of these types of alpacas are equally prized for different reasons. Fiber derived from alpacas can be either heavy or light depending on how it is spun, which means that it is ideal for a number of different kinds of garments. Compared to sheep wool, alpaca wool is considerably softer, and it is also more durable.
